After removing Qwest's 'Quick Connect' I had no problems and get great reception with the cradle. Wonderful value. I initially had trouble installing because Qwest's installation instructions stated I should install the Qwest disk and the USB installation. Excellent product now that it is working effectively and very good reception.
Then one day it died, doesn't light up, doesn't do anything. We spent hours on the phone with the tech support.
You could bet that our next wireless adaptor will not be D-Link. while it's obvious that this item simply died.
We were told to download and install new drivers, new service packs. But we decide to give up.Fortunately Amazon has a good return policy, we'll still be able to get partial refund.
We've been using this product for less than five months, it was working fine while it lasted. Supposedly it's still under their one-year warranty, we were told that they would send replacement as soon as the tech support deems the product defective.
We are supposed to call back again for more "support options".
This unit is being returned today. I called D-Link tech support and they told me to install the newer driver which was on their website. It even gave me the dreaded blue screen when trying to use the repair command under Windows XP. After trying to install the driver again I got the blue screen for the 5th time and my patience ran out. I bought this product against my better judgement for the ease of use of a USB adapter. I followed install instructions but it wouldn't find my network. That too was quite a process and I'm somewhat tech proficient.
I put one on a desktop with Vista and needed no installation files or drivers to work. The drivers installed easily and wifi worked well. Easy installation and works well. I put another one on a laptop with XP that I do not have administrator rights for.
Did not purchase at Amazon, but is the same model. I downloaded the current software, but it can't see it when I plug it in. The light won't come on on multiple USB ports, and multiple computers. It does not show up in my device manager. I had this on a "always on" media machine. We didn't use it much, but it only lasted 4 months. My computer sees "something", when plugged in, but says there was a error in the installation.
